The Jumbo Shrimp have been bringing our beach party vibe to public and private events since 2012.
Based in St. Louis, MO, we perform at venues from 50 to 5,000 throughout the USA. Our resume includes Theme Parks, Corporate Events, Minor League Baseball Parks, and Trop-Rock Music Festivals.
We call our music "Gumbo Rock and Carribean Soul" which includes our original tunes, plenty of Jimmy Buffett, and a fantastic mix of Americana/Folk, Classic Rock, Country, Blues, Tex-Mex and Zydeco. All with a Jumbo Shrimp spin and a huge dose of fun!
To sum it up best, "The Jumbo Shrimp Band is like a Mardis Gras party in Margaritaville!!!"
We customize our set list for every event, including all Jimmy Buffett and Tropical Rock for Margaritaville themed events.
The Jumbo Shrimp Band are (L to R): Rory Finn (keyboards and accordion), Tom Tierney (electric guitar), Mike McEnery (acoustic guitar), Lance "Flipper" Steen (drums), Steve Kolodziej (bass), and Mark "Catfish" Vesser (harmonica, percussion, acoustic guitar)
Five lead vocalists, rich vocal harmonies, unique instrumentation including accordion and harmonica, and a wide variety of genres keep our performances fresh and exciting.
Laissez les bons temps rouler!!!
For over 10 years, The Jumbo Shrimp Band has been performing their one-of-a-kind style of Jimmy Buffett tribute for Parrot Head Clubs, Minor Leauge Baseball Stadiums, Theme Parks, Music Fesitvals and Non-Profit Fundraisers throughout the Midwest. Jimmy Buffet's roots are in New Orleans and Mobile, AL and The Jumbo Shrimp Band loves to include Jimmy's cajun, creole and Louisiana R&B songs that add a Mardi Gras feel to the beach party Margaritaville vibe. We would love to make your event a success!
The Jumbo Shrimp Band’s musical style was developed in 2009 while this group of friends were lost at sea for over six months. It’s the usual story, something about a three hour tour, the weather started getting rough, blah, blah, blah…… Good fortune was on their side, because there happened to be three CD’s on the boat: the greatest hits collections of Jimmy Buffett, Buckwheat Zydeco, and Bob Marley. (Actually there were four, but thankfully Abba’s Greatest Hits was scratched and could not be played.) Once Gonzo rigged up some solar panels from palm leaves, gum wrappers and a shoe string, the band fired up the boom box and jammed on those CD’s 24/7. Then miraculously a crate of musical instruments washed up on the beach. With nothing else to do, the gang all learned to play an instrument, became musical geniuses, and formed a band – which they dutifully named after their boat, the S.S. Jumbo Shrimp. After fending off local headhunters, Japanese submarines, and Russian cosmonauts for several more months, they were finally rescued by the US Coast Guard. Within days of their return to civilization, world famous promoter Hugh Jass read their story in Time magazine and signed them to a massive contract to continue to record and perform their mix of Gumbo Rock and Caribbean Soul. The rest, as they say, is history.
Mike McEnery & The Jumbo Shrimp Band is a Hugh Jass Production.
